Meet the People Behind the Pack
Hi, my name is Brittany, I am very excited to announce that I recently joined the team at Tail Chasers as a full-time dog groomer! I just moved to Virginia from West Palm Beach Florida and my very first day at Tail Chasers was October 10th
Eleven years ago, at the age of thirteen, I started my on-the-job training working with dogs. My first experience was when I started learning how to groom our family toy poodle from my older sister who was a groomer. She showed me grooming techniques and allowed me to work on our beloved poodle. After this, my desire grew stronger to work with dogs and become a groomer.
I started my professional career as a bather and worked with several reputable grooming facilities. Before moving to Christiansburg, I worked in my previous position for 3 years. There, I was quickly promoted to head bather and then worked closely with the owner of the business for 2 years, where I was trained on the job to become a groomer. In the past I have also worked and groomed for a Bichon breeder. I have attended many grooming shows and seminars and plan to continue to attend as many as possible to expand my grooming techniques and continue to learn and grow as a groomer.
Now, I’m very comfortable in performing breed specific haircuts on an array dog breeds. I am devoted to make sure that each groom I perform is my best work and more than that, I want to be sure the client and pet are comfortable, safe and happy during and after my grooming sessions. My number one focus is the safety and happiness of your pet.
I want to meet and talk with each of you one on one to get to know you and your pet and to make sure I fully understand exactly what services you would like and do it to the best of my ability as well as discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
I’m happily looking forward to working with new and returning clients to Tail Chasers, so stop on by to meet me in person or give us a call so that we can get you set up with an appointment and get your baby looking and feeling their best!
Hi all! And thanks for reading my bio!
My name is Chelsey, and I am a professionally trained and certified pet groomer, now delightedly in partnership with Tail Chasers, here in the heart of Christiansburg!
I was born and raised in the New River Valley! I am a Liberty University student as well as a mother of three children, one who is my biological, two of which we are awaiting final adoption! We have pet dogs, ducks, geese, and a gerbil! Our family’s dream is to have more land for more ducks!
I received my grooming certification back in 2011, in Lynchburg, Va. Additionally, I hold current accreditation for Cat and Dog First Aid, as well as CPR through the American Red Cross. I have worked for several Veterinary Clinics and Pet stores over the years, collecting a broad range of pet care knowledge. Continuing education is something that is incredibly valuable to me and I plan on attending more pet care and medical care training classes in 2021!
I want your beloved friend to feel relaxed, safe and loved for while in my care. Patience and a tranquil environment are my greatest virtues during my grooming sessions; Along with health awareness, pet safety practices, and the precision of grooming in accordance with the standards for each breed.
Don’t have a purebred pet that receives a specific breed-standard style? No problem!
Not sure what your companion needs, or what would look best on him or her? No worries!
Dry skin? Sensitive skin? Shedding too much? Tangles or matting?
I will provide you a consultation with your pet to design a specific spa-care package, tailored just for your furry friend! Your pet will leave looking and feeling their best every time!
We hope to see you soon at Tail Chasers!
My name is Mackenzie and I am a daycare attendant here at Tail chasers! I joined the team in September of 2020 and I absolutely love my job here. I grew up on a farm with sheep, horses, cows, goats, chickens, and the list goes on. I have interned at an small/exotic animal hospital since 2010 and I am Certified veterinary assistant. I have lots of experience with animals of all kinds, even reptiles!
I am a recent graduate of Pulaski County high school and I plan on attending vet school at Virginia tech in the future.
Here at tail chasers, I can be found doing just about everything including daycare, bathing, nail trims, and running the front desk. I enjoy seeing and playing your fur babies in daycare and I know they love seeing and playing with me as well. I am glad to be a part of this team and I am happy to have the privilege to meet and take care of your fur babies!
Hello! My name is Cortney. I’ve been here at Tail Chasers for about 2 years now! I graduated from Blacksburg High School in 2017. My senior year I did an internship with Bold Springs Vet in Giles. Right after that I worked at the Montgomery Country Animal Shelter before finding the job opening here. I’m currently in my last semester for my Police Science and Forensic Science degrees. My plan is to own a Forensics dog to sniff out evidence at crime scenes as well as working in the crime lab.
My family has always been in the farming business, so I’ve been around animals my whole life and I love them ALL!
At Tail Chasers, you can find me here Mon-Fri usually from about 12:30-6:00! I’m normally running around doing just about everything from baths, appointment making, daycare, and sometimes a tiny bit of grooming, when I’m not loving on the sweet babies we have here!
Hi, my name is Amanda, and I joined the Tail Chasers team in February 2020.
My love of animals started at a very young age and I always knew they would be a big part of my life. Originally from NJ, I transferred to this area to pursue a career with animals. I'm a 2010 graduate of Virginia Tech, with a degree in Animal Science. This led me to a long career at the local spay/neuter clinic and an avid volunteer at the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center.
In my home, I have an array of rescued fur babies that include four dogs and three cats. Pictured with me is my dog Stella, that I adopted from the local shelter in December 2019.
Working at Tail Chasers has been a blast and I enjoy each and every day that I am there. Getting a chance to play with dogs and seeing the happiness in their eyes when they get to be with their doggie friends is truly a blessing. The staff, owner, and clients are amazing and I am thankful that I'm a part of the team.
Hello! My name is Lori and I have worked part-time at Tail Chasers since May 2019. You may find me playing with and loving your dogs while in daycare, giving your dogs TLC during their bath and nail trims, and/or assisting you at the front counter. No matter what I am doing, know that I am doing it with every ounce of love, and passion I have for serving you and your canine companion.
Born and raised in Connecticut, I grew up in the country and pursued my career as a Park Ranger while I attended college and majored in Fisheries and Wildlife. I moved to San Diego and worked in various parks as a Park Ranger for 23 years. While in San Diego, I earned by Bachelors degree in Business Management and Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership. In 2013 I hung up my Ranger hat and migrated to southwest VA to be close to family and closer to my country roots. I found my niche in the animal world here when I became employed at Montgomery County Animal Shelter (now the Animal Care and Adoption Center), as an Animal Control Officer for 4 years and more recently a volunteer and Education Coordinator. I absolutely love serving our county and communities two and four-legged population.
I am also a Reiki Master who practices Reiki (Japanese form of energy balancing and healing) on people and animals. My business is "Reiki Connection" (www.reikiconnection.net) based here in Christiansburg, I primarily serve the NRV but I am also able to provide Reiki from a distance to balance mid, body, and spirit. I invite you to pursue my website, ask me any questions you have about it and how it may help you and your pet. I have also spent several years teaching dog obedience and tackling problem behaviors and I enjoy sharing that knowledge with dog parents so that you and your companions can live a happy, healthy life together.
My husband and I have 3 wonderful rescued dogs! Trooper, Hope, and Lilly, whom you may see enjoying herself to the fullest in dog daycare. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my dogs and family, cycling, hiking, kayaking, reading, and gardening.
Wag more, bark less! See you soon!
Hi! My name is Rachel and I am a junior at Radford University studying Criminal Justice and Psychology. I'm from Virginia Beach but have lived on and off here in the New River Valley and started at Tail Chasers in November of 2020. I've loved dogs since I can remember and been working with them since I was about 16. My friends like to say that im the "dog whisperer" because of how easily animals and I get along with each other!
Here at Tail Chasers I am usually out in the yard, watching all of the dogs in the afternoons during the week. I try to make daycare their home away from home. I love watching all of your fur babies and cant wait to start getting to know everyone!
